Video Healthy Work Stretches During Quarantine
The Universitat Jaume I is committed to the «Healthy Work» program during quarantine at the possibility of making a video every day of the week.
Monday – Neck and trapezius exercises
The neck and traps are one of the parts that suffer the most on a daily basis in our work. This video tries, through stretching exercises and postural control, to improve the tensions that the computer and bad postures can cause.
Tuesday – Scapula and hand exercises
The scapula area is usually one of the areas that accumulates the most tension due to the contraction of the shoulders forward. Also, since we spend hours and hours on computer keyboards, tablets, or mobiles, our hands clutch throughout the day. This session can help us ease those tensions.
Wednesday – Forearm and triceps exercises
Long-term use of the computer or certain repetitive tasks with the hands can shorten the forearms and cause pain, tendinitis, etc. Therefore, it is essential to stretch them. In addition, stretching the triceps can help us avoid pain in the upper back.
Thursday – Back thoracic exercises
Back problems are a common disease that affects 85% of the population at some point in their lives. With stretching practice and good body posture these problems can be greatly alleviated.
Friday – Pectoral and bicep exercises
In the day to day we can find ourselves with cervical problems, shoulder pain or tendinitis, consequence of incorrect postures at work. These problems can be derived from a shortening of the pectoral muscles and biceps. Therefore, stretching them is essential to improve our health-
Saturday – Hip and Butt Exercises
The hips support much of our body weight (head, spine and upper extremities), so proper mobility will prevent pain in these regions of our body. On the other hand, a correct toning and stretching of the buttocks can help us to improve back problems derived from the atony of this muscle group.
Sunday – Exercises for iliac psoas, legs and quadriceps
The stretching of the lower extremities is of vital importance for our health. A shortening of the leg muscles can lead to problems with the back, hips, etc., and can seriously affect our health and well-being.
The Universitat Jaume I through its Sports Service launches a new program called «Sports Training»
The Universitat Jaume I, through the Sports Service, launched the «Quarantine in Shape» program for seven weeks during confinement. With him it has been possible to continue doing physical activity, thanks to the advice and online classes from professionals in the sector who, although they have not been in person, at least have been virtual. Now, in the face of this new reality of de-climbing, you can go back to doing physical activity on the street. For this reason, from the Sports Service, a new program is born called «Sports Training» whose main objective is to accompany and advise all those who face this period with sports doubts.
The program will start next Monday, May 11 and will consist of two parts: one part in which a professional with a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences will attend to questions and queries that may arise around training and physical conditioning through an email (entrenamentesportiu@uji.es), and a second part in which free webinars will be offered through Hangouts Meet.
The free webinars will take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 noon and will last from 5 to 10 minutes. Specific topics of sports training will be covered such as the amount of training that must be carried out, its adaptation to different needs, rest periods, or interval training (HIIT), up to a total of 14 topics. Then, the questions that arise in this regard will be answered. To access, just click on the corresponding link that will be generated for each day and each meeting (webinar) and that will be published on the Sports Service website.
With this new program, the University, through its Sports Service, follows the same line of the «Quarantine in Shape» program and continues to work to offer answers and sports advice adjusting to each moment of reality.
